Hanging upside down from branches, the sloth is an iconic mammal of the tropical forests of Central and South America. With its long arms, curved claws, and slow gait, it is perfectly adapted to arboreal life.
Surprisingly, sloths spend most of their lives hanging from trees, where they sleep up to 15 hours a day. Their very slow metabolism explains their measured movements, but they are also excellent swimmers when they have to cross a river. A herbivore, they feed mainly on leaves and buds, which they digest over several days. Their fur often harbors microscopic algae, which give them a greenish tint and enhance their camouflage.
This Papo figurine faithfully reproduces the sloth: sculpted fur, long claws and characteristic posture. An ideal model to complete a collection of wild animals, invent exotic stories or to educate children about the incredible adaptations of tropical fauna.
