Emperor Penguin Figurine

Reference 50033

€6,70

Recognizable by its black and white plumage and orange highlights near its neck, the emperor penguin is the largest of all penguins. Living in Antarctica, it is perfectly adapted to the extreme cold and wind conditions that prevail on the ice floes.

Surprisingly, this is the only bird to breed in the middle of the southern winter. While the female goes out to sea to feed, the male carefully guards the egg on his feet, protected by a fold of skin called a "brood pouch," and can go several weeks without eating. Excellent swimmers, emperor penguins dive to depths of more than 500 meters to capture fish, squid, and krill.

This Papo figurine realistically recreates the emperor penguin: contrasting plumage, slender silhouette and meticulous details. An ideal model to enrich a collection of marine animals, invent stories about the ice floe or to educate children about the incredible adaptations of polar fauna.
