A skilled and tenacious seabird, the cormorant is renowned for its incredible diving skills. It is found on coasts, lakes, and estuaries, where it fishes with great efficiency.
Surprisingly, unlike many aquatic birds, the cormorant does not have completely waterproof feathers. This feature allows it to dive underwater more easily to capture fish and crustaceans, but requires it to dry itself by spreading its wings in the sun after each hunt. Capable of diving to depths of more than 20 meters, it uses its webbed feet as propellants.
This Papo figurine faithfully reproduces the cormorant: slender silhouette, hooked beak and precise feather details. An ideal model to enrich a collection of marine animals, invent stories about the shores or to educate children about the fascinating fishing techniques of this great diver.
