Also known as the “lesser panda,” the red panda is an arboreal mammal native to the forests of the Himalayas and China. Easily recognizable by its red fur, long, ringed tail, and expressive snout, it spends much of its time perched in trees.

Although it shares the same name as the famous giant panda, the red panda belongs to a different family. An opportunistic herbivore, it feeds primarily on young bamboo shoots, but also on fruits, berries, and sometimes insects. Surprisingly, it uses its bushy tail as a blanket to protect itself from the cold when curled up on a branch. An endangered species, it is the subject of numerous conservation programs.

This Papo figurine faithfully reproduces the red panda: flamboyant fur, ringed tail and lively posture. An ideal model to complete a collection of wild animals, invent stories in the heart of the forest or educate children about the conservation of endangered species.
