With its white coat and obvious smile, the beluga is one of the most recognizable cetaceans in the Arctic seas. Also called the "canary of the sea," it owes this nickname to the wide variety of sounds it makes to communicate.
Surprisingly, unlike most whales, the beluga whale lacks a dorsal fin, allowing it to crawl under the ice. Highly sociable, it lives in groups called "herds" that can number several hundred individuals. Opportunistic, it feeds on fish, squid, and crustaceans, which it hunts in the icy waters thanks to its excellent echolocation skills.
This Papo figurine faithfully reproduces the beluga: slender body, immaculate color and meticulous details. An ideal model to enrich a collection of marine animals, invent stories in the polar seas or to educate children about the incredible adaptations of Arctic cetaceans.
