Swallowtail Butterfly Figurine

€9,99

With its large yellow wings veined with black and its blue and red eyespots, the swallowtail is one of the most beautiful butterflies in our gardens. Easily recognizable, it attracts the eye when it pollinates flowers or flies gracefully in the sun.

Found across much of Europe, it thrives in flowery meadows, vegetable gardens, and open spaces. Surprisingly, its caterpillar, green with black stripes and orange dots, feeds primarily on plants in the Apiaceae family, such as fennel and dill. To protect itself, it has a small orange organ called an osmeterium, which releases an odor that deters predators. This cycle of transformation, from egg to butterfly, perfectly illustrates the metamorphosis of insects.

This Papo figurine faithfully recreates the swallowtail butterfly: vibrant colors, finely detailed wings, and a realistic silhouette. An ideal model to enrich a collection of garden animals, invent light and poetic stories, or educate children about the wonders of biodiversity.
