A symbol of the mountains, the marmot is a small mammal recognizable by its stocky body, short legs, and thick fur. It is found in alpine meadows, where it digs vast burrows connected by underground galleries.
A herbivore, it feeds on grasses, flowers, and roots, which it sometimes stores before winter. Surprisingly, the marmot hibernates for nearly six months, huddled with the other members of its colony to conserve warmth. Highly vigilant, it emits a high-pitched whistle to alert its fellows in case of danger, before taking refuge in its burrow.
This Papo figurine faithfully reproduces the marmot: dense fur, realistic posture and expressive muzzle. An ideal model to complete a collection of wild animals, invent stories in the mountains or educate children about the richness of alpine fauna.
