Large and graceful, the stork is an iconic migratory bird of our countryside. It is recognizable by its white plumage contrasting with black, its long red beak, and its large, thin legs that allow it to walk in wet meadows and marshes.
Each spring, it builds a vast nest high up, often reused and enlarged year after year. Surprisingly, a stork's nest can reach over two meters in diameter and accommodate several chicks. The young, entirely dependent on their parents, are fed by regurgitation and gradually learn to fly before joining their first migration to Africa.
